SCIENCE TUESDAYS

Six years ago, Roger Ebert wrote:

“No one in or out of the field has ever been able to cite a game worthy of comparison with the great poets, filmmakers, novelists and poets.”

Many of us have had many opinions on this assertion, and some of those opinions have not been stupid. I however am the first person in human history to discover the correct response.

The correct response is not to cite or make a game worthy of comparison. It is to compare games to the great poets, filmmakers, novelists and poets. Using science.

Therefore every Tuesday without fail whenever I can be bothered I propose to compare games to works of official art, using science.

The end result of this project will be to determine for once and all whether games are art, and if not to determine once and for all whether they are better than art. I hope you will find these conclusions useful.

I might be a prophet. I began this essential project in 2009, six months before Mr Roger Ebert did his assertion:

But back then I didn’t realise the cosmic significance of what I was doing. I do now. Buckle up. Lean back. May God have mercy on our souls.
